Beirut Arab University and the Engineers Syndicate of Beirut have signed a new five-year cooperation agreement. This aims to strengthen the partnership between the academic and professional sectors.
In addition to developing the skills of students and graduates in the fields of architecture, design, and the built environment.
The agreement was signed between the President of the University, Prof. Wael Nabil Abdel Salam, and the President of the Syndicate of Engineers, Eng. Fadi Hanna. It took place in the presence of a number of academic officials and representatives of the Syndicate.
Developing the skills of architecture students in Lebanon
The agreement between Beirut Arab University and the Syndicate of Engineers focuses on organizing specialized training programs for students and graduates of the Faculty of Architecture – Design and the Built Environment.
These programs aimed to enhance practical experiences and raise the level of professional readiness. They do so in line with the requirements of the labor market.
The training areas also included architectural design, rehabilitation of heritage buildings, and the preservation of urban identity. In addition, they included spreading the culture of sustainability and encouraging the use of modern technologies in architecture.
Extensive academic and professional collaboration
The agreement also stipulated the organization of specialized lectures, conferences, exhibitions and workshops.
This collaboration contributes to the exchange of experiences between academics and engineers, and enhances students’ applied knowledge.
The two parties also decided to cooperate in the preparation of studies and development projects related to architecture. This will be in coordination with municipalities, local institutions and concerned authorities.
Supporting the Urban Observatory in Lebanon
One of the most prominent terms of the agreement is the contribution of the Faculty of Architecture – Design and the Urban Environment in supporting the establishment of the Urban Observatory of the Engineers Syndicate.
This project aims to promote scientific research, urban planning, and improve the built environment in Lebanon.
The two sides stressed that this step opens new horizons for students and graduates. In addition, it contributes to supporting innovation and the development of the architecture sector. This will reflect positively on the future of Lebanese cities and communities.
