The “One Million Lebanese AI Experts” initiative aims to train a million Lebanese people in the use of artificial intelligence tools.
Lebanon and the UAE launched the initiative from New York, as part of the UAE Government Knowledge Exchange Program, in the presence of Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Prime Minister Nawaf Salam.
Skills available to everyone
Minister of the Displaced and Minister of State for Technology and Artificial Intelligence Kamal Shehadi explained that the initiative covers Lebanese people of all ages, specialties and regions.
He confirmed that the goal is to gain advanced skills in using these tools, not to turn all participants into specialized experts.
He also noted, in remarks to MTV’s website, that the cooperation reflects the UAE’s support for digital transformation and its confidence in the capabilities of the Lebanese people.
According to Shehadi, Lebanon ranks fifth in the Arab world in the use of artificial intelligence, with about 27 percent of Lebanese using AI tools.
Training staff and developing services
At the same time, the ministry has begun training employees in the use of artificial intelligence through the “Numou” program.
Shehadi said that 50 general directors and 100 employees have benefited from the training so far.
At the same time, he stressed that full digital transformation requires investments in infrastructure and the development of services provided to citizens.
As such, the initiative seeks to expand digital skills and enhance opportunities to benefit from technology in daily life and work.
This step opens the door for various segments of society to keep pace with technological changes, while developing infrastructure remains an essential element for completing Lebanon’s digitization path.
