American local news anchor Dominique Dillon didn’t expect a fleeting moment during her work to turn into an embarrassing situation that would go viral on social media.
While presenting the newscast live on air, Dillon laughed spontaneously.
She then pinched her right arm from under the table to make sure she wasn’t dreaming.
To her surprise, she realized she had actually dozed off during the live broadcast in front of the cameras.
Her colleague didn’t miss the moment and teased her, saying: “Sleeping Beauty is here!”
To which she replied sarcastically, “What are you talking about?”
The reason for Dillon’s exhaustion went back to the previous night.
Her husband was working a double shift, which prevented him from being there to help her put their youngest daughter to bed, as the little girl had resisted going to sleep for a long time.
In the end, Dillon wasn’t able to go to bed until around 11:00 p.m.
Just two and a half hours later, her alarm went off, signaling the start of a new workday.
After the segment ended and the show went to a commercial break, Dillon was surprised when the show’s producer excitedly told her: “You’re going viral right now.”
This was after a clip of her falling asleep on air began circulating on social media.
And while the clip became a source of amusement and laughter,
Dillon admitted that she felt extremely embarrassed by the situation, which made her the talk of her followers within just a few minutes.
