Celebrations for the Feast of Blessed Brother Estephan Nehme began at the Monastery of Kfifan.
The Mass was held on the 27th of the month, which is set aside for prayers for his canonization.
The Mass was celebrated by the two newly ordained priests of the Lebanese Maronite Order, Father Pierre Drian and Father Charbel Kazzi.
The service was attended by the abbot, Father Estephan Farah; the novice master, Father Najm Shahwan; as well as a number of priests and a crowd of the faithful.
After the reading of the Holy Gospel, Father Drian delivered a homily in which he spoke about the life of Blessed Estephan Nehme and his spiritual and humanitarian virtues.
This was followed by a prayer procession with the relics of the Blessed, during which participants offered prayers for the proclamation of his canonization.
The first day concluded with the screening of a new documentary film titled “In the Footsteps of Brother Estephan Nehme: From Lahfad to Kfayfan.”
Produced and presented by journalist Josephine Abi Ghosn and directed by Roger Charbel.
The film documents the Blessed’s journey and the monasteries where he served as a lay brother.
It draws on testimonies from the abbots of the monasteries and his relatives, including Clara Nehme, who was healed of her blindness.
The celebrations continue on Friday, August 28, with the Blessing of the Water at 8:00 p.m., followed by the traditional meal.
A Vigil Mass will be held on Saturday, August 29, while Sunday, August 30, will feature six Masses, the most notable of which is the Feast Day Mass at 12:00 p.m., presided over by Bishop Munir Khairallah.
