Dr. Rayan Al-Rafei Wins Award for Best Scientific Report

Dr. Rayan Mahmoud Al-Rafei, from the Faculty of Public Health—Third Branch at the Lebanese University, achieved a new scientific milestone after winning the award for best report in a scientific competition.

The competition was held during an international training course in cholera in the Kingdom of Morocco.

This underscored the presence of Lebanese talent in regional and international research forums.

The training program focused on the latest scientific methods for cholera surveillance and the analysis of genetic sequencing data.

The goal was to leverage genomic technologies to support public health decisions and enhance the speed of response to epidemics.

Dr. Al-Rafei received the award for a scientific report that addressed the classification of cholera strains based on DNA data.

It categorized them into high-risk and low-risk strains,

This helps health authorities and decision-makers develop more effective strategies to limit the spread of the disease and protect communities.

Dr. Rayan Al-Rafei is a researcher at the Laboratory of Health and Environmental Microbiology at the Higher Institute of Doctoral Studies in Science and Technology and the College of Public Health.

There, she continues to contribute to the advancement of scientific research related to public health and infectious diseases.
