Resumption of Direct Flights Between the United States and Lebanon

After a 40-year ban on direct flights between the United States and Lebanon, the issue of direct flights between the two countries has returned. Now, it is at the forefront.

U.S. President Donald Trump has asked his administration to explore allowing U.S. airlineshttps://www.aa.com/homePage.do?locale=en_US

He is now seeking approval to operate direct flights to Beirut. This follows his meeting with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun.

However, before any decision is made, direct flights between the U.S. and Lebanon will requirehttps://www.beirutairport.gov.lb/ to undergo a comprehensive security assessment

by U.S. authorities to ensure it meets all required standards.

This move reversed a previous policy which led to the suspension of flights between the two countries at the time.

To date, no official date has been set for the resumption of these flights, and the final decision remains contingent on

the results of the security assessment, regional conditions, and U.S. travel advisories.

If direct flights resume, travel time is expected to be significantly reduced.
