The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) announced that, starting November 1, 2026, it will pay out all of its benefits via “fresh” checks in Lebanese pounds. The move aims to make it easier for beneficiaries to receive their dues and to strengthen trust between them and the Fund.
The Fund’s Public Relations Directorate explained that the decision covers insured individuals, doctors, hospitals, major institutions, and all other beneficiaries of its services.
The measure comes after beneficiaries faced difficulties over the past period in collecting their dues through banks, which resulted in the loss of part of their actual value.
The Fund had already addressed this issue with regard to end-of-service indemnities. It also began collecting subscriptions and amounts owed to it in cash or via “fresh” checks in Lebanese pounds or US dollars, in accordance with Circular No. 844 issued on August 6, 2026.
Based on Board of Directors’ Decision No. 28 dated October 15, 2026, the Fund’s Director General, Dr. Mohammad Karaki, issued Circular No. 852, which stipulated the adoption of “fresh” checks in Lebanese pounds to pay out all of the Fund’s benefits.
Karaki affirmed that this is part of a comprehensive reform process that upholds the principle of reciprocity and guarantees the rights of insured individuals, healthcare providers, and beneficiaries, thereby reinforcing the role of social security as a safeguard for health and social stability in Lebanon.
