Information suggests the beginning of a breakthrough in the electricity file following Minister Joe Saddi’s period of withdrawal.
Saddi held a meeting with the new board of directors of Électricité du Liban (EDL).
This comes as its chairman, Nassib Nasr, took up his duties, and the two began working on practical solutions to restart the Zouk and Jiyeh power plants after a halt that was never addressed under the previous administration.
Lebanese Forces ministers in the Council of Ministers raised the need to overcome any judicial obstacles standing in the way of restarting the plants, and the prime minister responded positively.
The prime minister also responded positively to Saddi’s request to work on securing payment of part of the dues and arrears owed by public administrations to the electricity sector.
