Interior and Municipalities Minister Ahmad Al-Hajjar met with Beirut Marathon Association President May Khalil to discuss the organizational and logistical preparations for the Spinneys Beirut International Marathon.
The association is organizing the race on Sunday, November 29, 2026, under the slogan “Beirut in Every Step.”
The meeting was also attended by the association’s Executive Director Samer Makarem and Race Director Erabi Nael.
Khalil thanked Al-Hajjar for his efforts to strengthen security and stability, particularly in the capital, stressing the importance of these measures for the success of the sporting event.
She also noted that the Beirut Marathon boosts Lebanon’s presence on the map of international races.
She added that the event brings together tens of thousands of male and female runners from different Lebanese regions, which supports national unity.
Safety and coordination at the forefront of preparations
For his part, Al-Hajjar affirmed the ministry’s support for activities that highlight Lebanon’s humanitarian and athletic image.
He also stressed the implementation of safety measures for participants, along with adherence to public order, and praised the association’s activities.
For his part, Nael presented the field operations plan, which covers technical, medical and environmental aspects.
He revealed that groups of male and female runners are preparing to come from Arab and foreign countries to take part.
He explained that hundreds of young men and women will work as part of a field team linked to an operations room to monitor the progress of the race.
Alongside this, the association continues to coordinate with the General Directorate of Internal Security Forces to secure the routes and provide safe conditions for participants, in line with the event’s professional standards, and to enhance the chances of the Beirut Marathon’s success and the welcoming of its guests from abroad.
