The Faculty of Law, Political and Administrative Sciences at the Lebanese University, Branch II, celebrated the graduation of a new class of bachelor’s and master’s students. The ceremony was held under the patronage of University President Dr. Bassam Badran,
who attended the event at “The Grand House” resort in Mansourieh.
Faculty Dean Dr. Habib Kizzi and Branch Director Dr. Gilbert Sleiman also took part in the celebration.
Former directors Dr. Mona Bacha and Dr. Issam Mubarak were also present, alongside political figures, professors, staff members and the families of the graduates.
Student Lea Akoury opened the speeches by highlighting the challenges faced by students and professors amid Lebanon’s successive crises.
A call to protect justice and the rule of law
Sleiman stressed that studying law goes beyond memorizing texts, extending to the protection of freedom, the pursuit of justice and the building of the state.
He also urged the graduates to uphold integrity and intellectual independence, and to make knowledge a tool for defending what is right.
For his part, Kizzi emphasized Lebanon’s need for legal professionals who believe in institutions, judicial independence and respect for the constitution.
He urged the graduates to serve the public interest, regardless of their differing opinions and affiliations.
Badran, in turn, described the faculty as a platform for democracy and a school for managing public affairs. He called on the graduates to protect the constitution and strengthen good governance, considering their competencies a cornerstone for Lebanon’s revival.
He also affirmed that the Lebanese University’s mission of knowledge, freedom and national identity continues, coinciding with its diamond jubilee.
In closing, Badran honored Mona Bacha, after which the organizers distributed certificates to the graduates.
