The Lebanese Basketball Federation held more than 50 games on Sunday, September 27, 2026.
The matches were divided between the Fourth Division championship and the age-category tournaments.
This level of activity reflects the growing participation of clubs and players, both male and female, in the federation’s competitions.
Among the highlights of the program was the under-8 basketball tournament, which the federation introduced last year.
The tournament aims to introduce children to the game from an early age, focusing on learning, acquiring basic skills, and enjoying participation rather than making results the focus of the experience.
This age category is part of the federation’s plan to build a development pathway for players, starting in the earliest years and extending through all age stages up to club teams and national teams.
The federation believes that focusing on young players widens the sport’s base and helps discover and nurture talent.
To allow parents and fans to follow the competitions, the federation broadcasts its tournament matches on its official YouTube channel.
This step gives basketball fans in Lebanon and abroad the chance to watch players of all age categories in action.
The federation also plans to hold a ceremony honoring all participants in the under-8 tournament, as it has done before.
Federation president Akram Halabi and members of the board of directors are expected to attend the ceremony.
They will be joined by the basketball community, the children’s families, and members of the media.
Amid the packed schedule of matches and the focus on young age groups, the federation continues to work on expanding the base of Lebanese basketball.
And on giving the new generation the space to learn and grow on the court.
