State Security boosts women’s role in security field

Officers and non-commissioned officers from the General Directorate of State Security took part today in a two-day workshop.

The workshop is organized in cooperation with the EU–UN Global Terrorism Threats Facility, under the title: “Enhancing Women’s Opportunities and Career Paths in Countering Terrorism and Preventing Violent Extremism.”

The Director General of State Security, Major General Edgar Lawandos, attended the workshop’s opening session.

The training team presented an overview of the workshop’s objectives and expected outcomes, particularly with regard to strengthening women’s participation in security work.

The workshop also aims to expand women’s opportunities and develop their career paths in the fields of countering terrorism and preventing violent extremism.

For his part, Lawandos praised “the efforts made by European Union and United Nations organizations in a professional partnership to support security institutions and build their capacities in various fields.”

He commended “the efforts of the training team in this workshop, and the role it plays in empowering women and developing their capabilities.”

He affirmed “the importance of continuing cooperation and exchanging expertise with specialized international bodies.”

He expressed hope for “the continuation and future expansion of this cooperation, in a way that contributes to achieving the best results and enhances the professional competence of security personnel in facing emerging security challenges.”
