Opening of the “Ain al-Bustan Festival” in Shehim

The “Regional Festivals Committee” inaugurated the “Ain al-Bustan Festival,” which it organized at a resort in Shehim, under the patronage of Shehim Municipality Mayor Engineer Tariq Shaaban, represented by Municipal Council member Maysa Abdel Hamid.

Also in attendance were MP Bilal Abdullah, former Minister Elias Hanna and his wife Attorney Norma al-Haddad, former MP Mohammad al-Hajjar, Mayor of Jadra Monsignor Joseph al-Qazi, and crowds.

The ceremony began with the national anthem, followed by MC Reem Basbous welcoming the attendees.

An Event Bringing Together the Region’s Residents

Shehim Municipality Secretary Attorney Ali Khair al-Hajjar delivered the municipality’s address, highlighting the importance of “the event that brings together the region’s residents in the embrace of nature, heritage, and affection.”

Al-Hajjar noted that “the festival is not merely a celebratory occasion, but a message of loyalty to the land, history, and heritage.”

He concluded by affirming that “Shehim Municipality will remain a supportive partner for every initiative aimed at serving humanity and preserving heritage.”

Heritage as a Way of Life

In turn, the owner of the “Old Village” resort, Mr. Fouad Shaaban, delivered an address affirming that “heritage is not merely stories to be told, but a way of life that brings people together and strengthens their connection to their roots and identity.”

In a gesture of appreciation, Committee Chairman Dr. Nidal Shaaban presented a commemorative shield to Fouad Shaaban in recognition of his efforts and continued support for heritage and cultural activities.

The opening concluded with a tour of the exhibition, which featured diverse pavilions for handicrafts, natural products, traditional preserves, heritage cuisine, saj bread, and traditional sweets.
