S&P Dow Jones Indices announced new changes to the composition of the S&P 100 and S&P 500 indices.
These changes are scheduled to take effect before the market opens on Monday, September 21.
They also coincide with the indices’ regular quarterly review.
The changes to the S&P indices include the removal of Nike from the S&P 100, which comprises a select group of the largest U.S. companies.
Conversely, the technology sector is strengthening its presence in the index.
Dell Technologies, Palo Alto Networks, Arista Networks, and SanDisk are joining the index.
As for the S&P 500, it is welcoming three new companies.
They are Bloom Energy, Everbor, and Illumina.
Conversely, Molson Coors Beverage Group, The Trade Desk, and Builders First Source are leaving the index.
This revision reflects the rapid shifts in the U.S. market.
It also underscores the growing importance of technology, energy, and innovation companies within the world’s leading indices.
