Lebanon and Jordan are strengthening educational cooperation; to that end, Minister of Education and Higher Education Rima Karami began an official visit to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
The decision to strengthen educational cooperation between Lebanon and Jordan led to the minister being accompanied by a delegation from the ministry.
She was received by Lebanon’s Ambassador to Jordan, Brigitte Touq, and the Secretary-General of the Jordanian Ministry of Education, Dr. Nawaf Ajarma.
The visit aims to activate the educational cooperation agreement between Lebanon and Jordan.
It also aims to develop implementation plans that contribute to the exchange of expertise.
Furthermore, it seeks to address shared educational challenges and develop educational institutions in both countries.
Karami began her itinerary with a meeting with Jordan’s Minister of Education and Human Resources Development, Dr. Azmi Mahafzah.
The two sides discussed ways to strengthen educational and academic ties and to develop scientific and technological cooperation.
The two sides agreed to form joint technical committees to follow up on the proposed programs through periodic meetings.
Areas of cooperation include curriculum development, capacity building for school principals, and responding to educational crises.
It was also decided to organize a forum bringing together officials from curriculum and training centers, university presidents, and experts from both countries.
The forum aims to exchange perspectives and develop practical solutions to shared challenges.
The two sides also discussed converting a number of scholarships to the undergraduate level and strengthening cooperation in vocational education.
They agreed to designate points of contact to monitor the program’s implementation and to leverage university research to support educational policies.
