Infantino had scrapped the plan—which valued the commercial rights to the World Cup and other FIFA tournaments at $20 billion—
in late July after facing a fierce backlash from regional federations, including the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), and key stakeholders in the sport.
A spokesperson for the Polish Football Association confirmed that Infantino, who is facing intense criticism, will attend the opening match.
About 15,000 people are expected to attend the first two matches on Saturday.
This tournament is an important event for the development of women’s soccer.
Many players hope to compete in the Women’s World Cup in Brazil next year.
Poland will face Argentina.
Meanwhile, Mexico will take on Benin in Katowice on opening day.
