Hekmeh Beirut has qualified for the final of the 38th Arab Clubs Basketball Championship, being hosted at Ghazir Sports Club’s hall.
The team secured its spot with a 16-point win over Markazia Jounieh, 100-84 (quarters: 23-20, 51-41, 78-58, 100-84).
The result came in the second semifinal match played between the two teams this evening in front of a decent-sized crowd.
Hekmeh, chasing a third title in the competition after winning twice at the Ghazir hall—in 1998 against Algeria’s Widad Boufarik and in 1999 against Egypt’s Al Ahly—will now face Syria’s Al Ittihad Al Ahli Halab, coached by Lebanese national coach Jad Al-Hajj.
The final will be a rematch of the two teams’ first-round meeting in Group A, which Hekmeh had won.
Al Ittihad Al Ahli Halab had advanced past Qatar’s Al Arabi, the 2024 champions in Egypt, in the first semifinal, winning 88-74. This marks the Syrian team’s first appearance in an Arab championship final.
