Gold prices saw a slight decline during trading on Friday.
However, gold prices are on track to post their first monthly gains in five months, buoyed by the sense of uncertainty prevailing in global markets.
This follows decisions by the U.S. Federal Reserve and ongoing tensions between the United States and Iran.
Spot gold fell 0.2% to $4,096.29 per ounce.
However, it remains on track to post a weekly gain of about 1.1%.
Meanwhile, U.S. gold futures for August delivery rose 0.1% to $4,094.10 per ounce.
The yellow metal had jumped 2% during Wednesday’s session after the Federal Reserve kept interest rates unchanged, without providing clear signals regarding its next steps.
Data from the FedWatch tool also showed that markets expect a 63% probability of a rate hike in September, compared to about 80% before the last meeting.
As for other precious metals, silver stabilized at $58.98 per ounce.
Meanwhile, platinum fell to $1,638.97, and palladium to $1,301.94.
