German club Bayern Munich is considering selling a new 5% stake in the company.
The potential deal could bring Bayern around €250 million, or about $289 million, according to the German newspaper Münchner Merkur.
The report says Viessmann Generations Group wants to acquire the 5% stake.
Bayern Munich’s bylaws allow the club to sell only this remaining percentage to an outside investor.
However, the club has not officially commented on the report.
The potential investor is Viessmann Generations Group, rather than Viessmann Climate Solutions, which currently partners with Bayern Munich.
Max Viessmann heads the group. He also joined Bayern Munich’s advisory board earlier this year.
Meanwhile, Bayern sporting executive Max Eberl said the club’s management handles such matters.
He added that Bayern president Herbert Hainer also plays a key role in these decisions.
The two sides have not announced any agreement yet.
It remains unclear whether the talks will lead to a final deal.
