The Episcopal Committee and the General Secretariat of Catholic Schools in Lebanon announced the organization of the 32nd annual conference, titled “The Teaching Profession in the Age of New Intelligences: A Renewed Mission.”
The conference will begin on September 3 at Our Lady of Louaize School in Zouk Mosbeh.
Under the patronage of Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Al-Rahi, the conference will last two days.
The announcement was made during a press conference at the Catholic Media Center.
Participants included Bishop Munir Khairallah, Father Youssef Nasr, Dr. Katia Elian, and Monsignor Abdo Abu Kasm.
Father Nasr emphasized that artificial intelligence and technological developments are bringing about a profound transformation in the teaching profession.
Consequently, the teacher’s role is no longer limited to the transmission of knowledge.
Rather, teachers are now responsible for fostering critical thinking and shaping free individuals and committed citizens.
The conference focuses on redefining the professional identity of teachers and promoting innovative educational practices.
It also draws on neuroscience and cognitive science.
It also highlights the importance of continuing professional development to keep pace with technological and societal changes.
The program is organized around three themes that explore the teaching profession in the era of new intelligences, emerging pedagogical practices, and continuing professional development.
University presidents, academics, and researchers from Lebanon and abroad are participating in the sessions.
These open discussions aim to advance education while preserving humanistic and Christian values.
