Meta boosts AI ambitions

Meta’s share offering drew strong investor demand, as part of the American company’s plan to fund artificial intelligence projects. Bloomberg reported, citing informed sources, that subscription requests covered the $25 billion offering nearly five times over.

The company allocated about half of the offered shares to existing investors or investors following long-term strategies. The largest fifteen subscribers also acquired around 70% of the total shares, reflecting the concentration of stakes among major participating investors.

The share price in the offering stood at $625, a discount of 2.7% from the previous Friday’s closing price before the announcement. In New York trading, the stock fell 1.4% to $621.47.

Meta’s share offering supports innovation

The funding plan includes mandatorily convertible financial instruments worth $12.5 billion, in addition to an anticipated program to sell shares on the open market. Through these steps, Meta is seeking to raise $98 billion.

As a result, the plan could become one of the largest equity financing operations in history. The company intends to direct the funds toward artificial intelligence infrastructure and super-personal intelligence applications.

Meta also unveiled the personal agent “Muse” and the “Muse Wonder” model. The company says the model rivals ChatGPT and Claude in tasks including coding, according to its statements.
