Lebanon’s Sagesse club was crowned champion of the 38th Arab Club Basketball Championship for the third time in its history, after defeating Syria’s Al-Ahli Halab 84-75 in the final, which was held at the Antoine Choueiry Stadium in Ghazir in front of a large crowd.
The Green team cemented its dominance with an outstanding team performance, combining offensive power with defensive solidity, achieving a remarkable feat by winning the title without a single loss throughout the tournament, and bringing the Arab Cup back to its trophy cabinet after a 27-year absence since its last title in 1999.
Deshaunte Washington shone with 23 points, making him the top scorer of the match and a standout foreign player of the tournament, while Ali Mezher was named the tournament’s best player, underscoring the strong Lebanese presence in the Arab competition.
The closing ceremony saw Sagesse awarded the gold medals, with team captain Youssef Khayat receiving the championship trophy. Al-Ahli Halab finished as runner-up, while Qatar’s Al-Arabi took third place.
This achievement marks a bright milestone for Lebanese basketball, confirming the ability of Lebanese clubs to compete at the Arab level and raise Lebanon’s name in sporting arenas.
