Mouttahed Jounieh has completed the semifinal lineup of the 38th Arab Clubs Basketball Championship, hosted by Sagesse Beirut at the Ghazir Sports Club hall.
Mouttahed booked its semifinal spot by defeating Beirut First Club, the 2023 champion, 93-84 in the match that closed out the quarterfinal round.
Mouttahed will now face Sagesse, champion in 1998 and 1999, in the second semifinal match, held at the same Ghazir hall, this evening, Monday, at 9:30 p.m.
The matchup is a rematch of the two teams’ earlier meeting in the third round of the first stage of Group A, which Sagesse won by a single point, 81-80.
Meanwhile, Qatar’s Al Arabi will meet Syria’s Al Ittihad Al Ahli Aleppo, coached by Lebanese national team coach Jad El Hajj, in the first semifinal match.
Al Arabi had defeated fellow Qatari side Al Rayyan in the first quarterfinal match, while Al Ittihad Al Ahli Aleppo overcame fellow Syrian side Homs Al Fidaa in the third quarterfinal match.
