Ansar, the record 16-time champions, claimed their opening win of the season, beating Hikmah Beirut 2-1.
The match was played yesterday afternoon at the Fouad Chehab Sports Complex in Jounieh, as part of the first round of the 67th Lebanese Football League.
“Al-Zaeem Al-Akhdar’s” goals were scored by their Senegalese striker El Hadji Malick Thiaw in the 48th and 66th minutes, while Hikmah’s goal came from Rabih Ataya in the 55th minute.
Nejmeh, last season’s runners-up and cup holders, also began their campaign in the 67th Lebanese Football League with a 2-0 win over Ikhaa Ahli Aley, who have returned to the top flight.
The match was played at the Amin Abdel Nour Municipal Stadium in Bhamdoun, as part of the opening round of the 67th Lebanese Football League.
Ibrahim Tounkara scored both goals, in the 4th minute and from the penalty spot in the 75th minute.
At Al-Ahed Club’s stadium on Airport Road, Tadamon Sour opened their league campaign by taking all three points with a 1-0 win over Shabab Al-Sahel, with the goal scored by Lucasie in the 83rd minute.
