MTV announced the nominations for the 2026 VMAs, thehttps://vote.mtv.com/, in what looks to be a highly competitive edition featuring the world’s top music stars.
Madonna topped the list with 11 nominations, while Taylor Swift came in second with 9 nominations.

Alongside Madonna and Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande and Sabrina Carpenter each earned seven nominations.
Bruno Mars, Zara Larsson, and the Pink Panthers each received five nominations. Liza,
a member of BLACKPINK, received four nominations, while Shakira and Tate McRae each received three nominations.

The VMAs Return to Los Angeles
After a nine-year hiatus, the VMAs are returning to the West Coast of the United States.
It is scheduled to take place at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on September 27, 2026.
The show will last about two hours, though MTV has not yet revealed the host for this year’s edition.
The last ceremony held in Los Angeles was in 2017, when Katy Perry served as host.
The Return of the Best Dance Award
The 2026 edition will also mark the return of the Best Dance category after a seven-year hiatus.
The return of the award holds a striking irony for Madonna. Despite her long career and the fact that many of her works are closely tied to dance culture,
she has never won this award since its inception in 1989.
The 2026 VMAs Production Team
Gunpowder & Sky is producing this year’s show, with Van Toffler leading the team as executive producer.
Also serving as executive producers are Jesse Ignatovich, Barbara Bialkowski, Bruce Gilmer, Barry Barclay, and Flores Bauer, along with Melanie Block and Gary Lanfey.
